The Opportunity

As a Senior Liability Trial Attorney, you will represent Travelers' insureds in complex liability cases, managing all phases of litigation from investigation through trial and appeal. This is a hands-on trial role requiring strong litigation and courtroom skills, a deep knowledge of liability law, and the ability to deliver outstanding results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload of high-exposure and complex liability cases.

• Conduct all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations, mediations, and trials.

• Serve as lead trial counsel in jury and bench trials.

• Provide clear legal analysis, reporting, and case strategy recommendations to clients and Claim partners.

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.

• Build strong relationships with insured clients and act as a trusted advisor.

• Mentor and support junior attorneys and legal staff.

• Adhere to best practices in case handling, technology use, and compliance requirements.

• Travel as required for court appearances, depositions, mediations, and trials.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Active law license in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction(s).

• Minimum 7 years of litigation experience with significant trial exposure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of successful jury trial experience in liability defense.

• Strong negotiation, advocacy, and analytical skills.

• Demonstrated expertise in liability law and procedures.

• Excellent research, writing, and oral presentation skills.

• Ability to mentor attorneys and legal staff.

• Client-focused with a commitment to delivering superior legal service.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume litigation environment.
