Compensation Overview

• Salary Range: $129,200 – $213,200 (nationwide market range)

• Actual salary is determined by role scope, complexity, skills, credentials, and location.

• Eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Counsel, you will independently manage a caseload of higher-exposure and more complex litigation matters. You will use your litigation expertise and trial skills to deliver optimal results for Travelers insured customers while mentoring legal staff and supporting business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Litigate cases to verdict using advanced trial skills.

• Draft and argue substantive motions, pleadings, briefs, and discovery.

• Provide in-depth analysis, quality reporting, and legal updates to clients and Claim partners.

• Foster and maintain strong client relationships with a customer-centric focus.

• Mentor attorneys and legal staff; provide training to internal teams and clients.

• Ensure adherence to best practices in file handling, case management, and use of technology.

• Collaborate with colleagues on strategic initiatives, special projects, and office goals.

• Travel as required to meet business needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Minimum 7 years of litigation practice or equivalent legal experience.

• Active law license in good standing in applicable state(s).

• Valid driver's license (may be required depending on office location).

Preferred Qualifications

• Senior Associate or Partner-level litigation experience.

• Proven trial skills and case results favorable to clients.

• In-depth knowledge of litigation process, local jurisdictional practices, and adversaries.

• Strong negotiation, research, and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated leadership through mentoring, influencing, and collaboration.

• Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.

• Strategic thinker with sound judgment and problem-solving ability.

• Strong client-service orientation and responsiveness.
