Compensation Overview

• Salary Range: $123,000 – $203,000 (nationwide market range)

• Actual compensation will depend on location, experience, skills, and role complexity.

• Eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

The Opportunity

As a Data Engineer, you will contribute to Product & Platform Modernization initiatives that curate data for analytical and downstream use. You'll work with modern cloud technologies while collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize complex data solutions, applying transformations and data quality processes.

• Design and develop scalable, modern data pipelines.

• Analyze complex data sources and recommend inclusion for analytics.

• Incorporate core data management competencies including governance, security, and quality.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to support delivery and educate end-users.

• Investigate and resolve complex data/system defects and incidents.

• Test and validate data movement, transformation, and system components.

• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training in data tools, techniques, and manipulation.

• 4+ years of data engineering or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications / Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.

• 8+ years of relevant experience.

• Cloud Technologies: AWS (S3, Lambda, Event Bridge, Step Functions, Terraform)

• Programming: Python, SQL

• Data Platforms: Databricks, DynamoDB, Postgres, Unity Catalog

• Development Tools: GitHub, SonarQube, Guidewire CDA

• Familiarity with CI/CD, TDD, Terraform, and the Travelers Engineering Platform (TEP).

• Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to design for scalability and longevity.

• Leadership qualities to mentor team members and foster a collaborative environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
